This year another eight brilliant finalists were handpicked as winners across a number of categories. Over the next few weeks we’ll be talking about each of them, and inviting you to watch the films. Introducing Winner of the 2016 Lens On Hunger Award, Everybody Eats, which takes a raw and heart-warming look at the power of community and kindness.  There has always been hunger in America, because there has always been poverty. In the last decade, America’s poverty rate has increased from 10 per cent, to 14 to15 per cent – and in some communities, reached disturbing highs of 29 to 30 per cent. Community-led organisation, One World Everybody Eats however, is working to change such statistics. People have been calling for innovative and collaborative ways to address these problem and One World Everybody Eats is a response to that call. The team has created a community food movement where local people can get involved in different varying capacities, from helping prep food to simply sharing a meal together. Really what we’re talking about is helping people get on their feet. It’s not a hand out, it’s a hand up. This is a film about true community spirit in every sense of the word – please watch for yourself. We’ll be sharing another short film next week, but for now visit Real Food Media for more information.
