Join us at the Midwest Farm to School Conference in Nebraska City, NE on Wednesday, March 2, 2016! This full day event will bring together those interested in building the farm to school initiative in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, and Kansas, including: Food service professionals, students, school administrators, and faculty members Farmers, ranchers, growers, and food producers Community members and parents Educational and food-related organizations  If you are interested in increasing students' knowledge about local and healthy foods, and in increasing the amount of local foods served to students in school, this conference is for you. We have scholarships available, see below for more information! We will spark connections throughout the day and provide multiple and varied opportunities for bringing the farm to our region's schools. Experts will address best practices for establishing farm-to-school relationships. Successful local food relationships will be shared. Ample time for networking will be provided, as well as coaching on helpful topics to address when in conversation with various stakeholders. Farm to school is not a one-size-fits-all program - come share what you know and learn from others as we build a healthier future for our kids, schools, farms, and communities. Register before Feb. 1 for the early bird special! Questions that will be asked and answered include (but definitely not limited to): Where and how do I purchase local foods? What are food hubs? Midwest Farm to School: Connecting Farms, Schools, and States | March 2, 2016 | Lied Lodge and Conference Center | Nebraska City, NE 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM - Registration 9:00 AM - 9:15 AM - Welcome 9:15 AM - 9:45 AM - Keynote Address: Chef Robert Rusan, a School Nutrition Association's 2015 School Nutrition Hero 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM- Workshop Sessions 1 Breakouts 11:15 AM - 12:15 PM- Lightning Round: brief and engaging presentations meant to educate and inspire (10 five-minute presentations) 12:15 PM - 1:15 PM- "Birds of a Feather" Lunch: participants choose tables based on discussion topics, "farm to conference" local foods served 1:15 PM - 1:45 PM- Exhibitor Fair 1:45 PM - 2:45 PM- Workshop Session 2 Breakouts 2:50 PM - 3:50 PM- "Speed Dating" Session: Building connections across stakeholder groups 3:50 PM - 4:00 PM- Closing Session Cost will include all meals, snacks, and beverage service throughout the conference. Limited numbers of scholarships are available to cover registration costs of the conference, as well as one night hotel stay.
