NH Lawmakers Considering Bill to Require GMO Labeling

According to the legislation, consumers have the right to know if its food was produced with genetic engineering. Any food that is sold in retail locations would be required to have a label stating that it is "Genetically Engineered" or "Partially Produced with Genetic Engineering." Manufacturers would also have to label processed foods that contain genetic engineering. The committee plans on holding a hearing at the New Hampshire Statehouse starting at 10 a.m. If passed, the bill would go into effect one year after the Vermont bill requiring labeling of genetically modified foods, Act 120, has taken effect.
