We can hardly believe the year has flown by so fast and that our special hen, Dee, is now in the final stages of her egg laying career having spent the last 16 months popping out a daily egg. And it won’t be long before Dee, at just 18 months old, will be destined for slaughter like so many other commercial hens in her position.
But for our very special hen number 500,000 and some of her friends there will be a happier outcome at least, because Dee will be given a second chance and will be re-homed to a loving family instead where she will live out her days in a happy free range environment.
We are very proud, and SO excited, at the prospect of re-homing our half a millionth hen – something we believe has never been done before, and you can keep in touch with how we are progressing by visiting this page.

Hens make amazing pets and what we love most about our re-homing work is seeing just how clever the girls are at getting immersed in family life – whether that is helping with digging up worms; popping in to watch a bit of TV; sharing your sandwich or helping the family decide where to go on holiday.
